My research interest focuses on the role of strigolactone which is a carotenoid-derived plant hormone and signaling molecule that plays a crucial role in shaping the plant architecture and also the interaction of the plants with the symbiotic fungi.
I am interested in genome editing of plants to elucidate gene regulation and interaction of plants with the surrounding microorganisms as well as microbial engineering to produce plant hormones. Enhancing plant features through genome editing can help them be better suited to food security issues and climate change. A sustainable future depends on addressing these agricultural problems by means of molecular and genetic breakthroughs.
